It is believed that zucchini bread originated in America in the 19th century when American homemakers used pearlash as a chemical leavening agent to leaven the bread.
Zebra Cakes – Zebra Cakes are classic snacks and desserts made from moist yellow cake, layered with creme, and topped with white icing. After that, it’s decorated with delicious stripes of fudge.
Zingers Hostess Cakes – The Zingers are vanilla cakes with icing on top that are flavored with ginger. Zingers are not only available in chocolate, vanilla, and raspberry flavors but also in a variety of other flavors as well. In addition, they are filled with delicious crème that will make your taste buds dance with delight.
Zagnut Peanut Butter and Coconut Candy Bar – Zagnut Candy Bars are sweet treats with a crunchy peanut butter center surrounded by toasted coconut flakes that add a nice crunch. The Hershey Company manufactures this product.
Italian desserts that start with Z
Zabaione – The Zabaione is a sweet Italian dish or drinks made with egg yolks, sugar, and sweet wine. Some versions of the recipe incorporate spirits, such as cognac, into the recipe. The dessert version of this dish is made up of a light custard whipped to incorporate a large amount of air into it. Restaurants with large Italian populations in the United States have served Zabaione with strawberries, blueberries, peaches, etc., since the 1960s.
Zeppole – A zeppola is an Italian pastry that consists of a deep-fried ball of dough in varying sizes. A powdered sugar topping is usually applied to this cake, which you may fill with custard, jelly, cannoli-style pastry cream, or a butter-and-honey mixture. There are several different consistency options, such as light and puffy bread-like and pasta-like. It is traditionally eaten on Saint Joseph’s Day, a Catholic holiday.
Zuccotto – Zuccotto is an Italian dessert that originated in Florence. This dessert is made from Alchermes, cake, and ice cream and is semi-frozen and chilled. When serving it, you should thaw it after being frozen. Pumpkin-shaped molds are traditionally used to make this dessert. There is a widespread belief that it was inspired by Florence’s main cathedral, the Duomo. According to some, its shape is similar to the skullcap or zucchetto of a cardinal.
Zuppa Inglese – The Zuppa Inglese is an Italian dessert in which custard and sponge cake are layered together, possibly derived from the trifle.
Zelten – Zelten is an Italian Christmas cake prepared during the holiday season. An ancient peasant tradition, it is made with wheat flour and rye flour and contains dried fruit and candied fruit. This dessert is also exceptionally aromatic due to the addition of grappa, grated orange, and lemon zest.
