Total Time 30 minutes mins
- 2 lb lean ground beef (90/10 or 93/7 fat content)
- 1/2 Tbsp olive oil
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tsp black pepper
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1/2 large yellow onion finely diced
- 1/4 cup mayonnaise
- 8 slices medium cheddar cheese
- 6 oz medium cheddar shredded (or used more sliced cheese)
- 24 dinner rolls (or use 2 packs of 12)
- 2 Tbsp unsalted butter melted, plus more to grease baking sheet
- 1 Tbsp sesame seeds
Oven and Pan Preparation: Begin by heating your oven to 350˚F. Use additional butter to coat the bottom of a rimmed baking sheet to prevent sticking.
Sauté Beef and Onions: In a large skillet over a medium/high flame, warm up 1/2 Tbsp olive oil before adding the diced onions and ground beef. Break the meat apart with a spatula, adding salt, pepper, and garlic powder for seasoning. Cook until the beef is no longer pink, then remove from heat.
Remove Excess Fat and Add Mayo: Lean the skillet to one side to spoon off any excess fat before discarding it. Mix in 1/4 cup of mayonnaise with the cooked beef.
Assemble the Sliders: Cut the dinner rolls in half and place the bottoms on the prepared sheet. Layer with slices of cheddar cheese, then evenly spread the beef mixture on top. Finish with a layer of shredded cheddar cheese.
Bake to Perfection: Cover with the top halves of the rolls, brush with melted butter, and sprinkle sesame seeds on top. Bake for 12-15 minutes or until the cheese has melted and the tops are golden.
