Ingredients

  • ¼ cup reduced-sodium soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 1 teaspoon cornstarch
  • ½ teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
  • 2 tablespoons avocado oil
  • 1 lb. lean ground beef 85/15
  • 1 tablespoon fresh garlic minced
  • 1 tablespoon fresh ginger root minced
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • ¼ cup green onions thinly sliced

Instructions

  • Begin by mixing the soy sauce, honey, cornstarch, and red pepper flakes in a small bowl to create the sauce. Keep this aside for later use.
  • Heat up the oil in a sizeable skillet set over medium-high heat.
  • Proceed to cook the ground beef in the skillet. Stir frequently, ensuring that the beef is crumbled and cooked until it loses its pink color, which should take about 5 minutes.
  • Once cooked, remove the excess fat from the beef and then place the beef back into the skillet. Add in both the minced garlic and ginger, and continue to cook for another minute, stirring well.
  • Now, pour the previously prepared sauce over the beef in the skillet. Let it cook together for 2 more minutes, or until the sauce is fully heated and has thickened.
  • Finally, after removing the skillet from the heat, top the beef with a drizzle of sesame oil and a garnish of sliced green onions. Serve this delicious dish warm.
