- 1 pound lean ground beef
- 1 medium yellow onion diced, about 1 cup
- 1 medium red bell pepper diced, about 1 cup
- 3 15 ounce cans pork and beans
- 1/2 cup sweet BBQ sauce
- 1/3 cup ketchup
- 1/4 cup light brown sugar
- 1 Tablespoon Dijon mustard
- 1 Tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 Tablespoon soy sauce
Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (176°C) and lightly grease a 13x9-inch casserole dish.
Cook the Bacon: In a large nonstick skillet over medium heat, cook the bacon pieces until crispy, about 8 minutes. Remove the bacon and discard any grease.
Cook the Beef: Return the skillet to medium heat and cook the ground beef for 3 minutes. Drain any excess grease.
Add Vegetables: Add the diced onion and red bell pepper to the skillet. Stir and cook until the beef is no longer pink and the onions are translucent, about 5 minutes.
Mix the Sauces and Beans: Stir in the BBQ sauce, ketchup, brown sugar, Dijon mustard, Worcestershire sauce, and soy sauce. Mix well, then add the pork and beans, stirring to combine.
Assemble the Dish: Pour the bean mixture into the greased casserole dish. Evenly distribute the cooked bacon pieces on top.
Bake: Cover the dish with aluminum foil and bake for 50 minutes.
Let it Rest: Remove from the oven and let the dish rest for at least 10 minutes to set and thicken.
